Political Empowerment
Helping At-Risk Youth in Kenya to Become Purposeful Citizens
As an independent, non-partisan and non-profit organization, we are committed to get young people involved in politics, election campaigns and governance.
We believe that the youth of today should have a say in what role they want to take in their communities.
By partnering with organizations with years of active political engagement, lobbying, and representation on different levels of government, VkV seeks to empower youth's political participation.
We do this by educating them about their rights, providing them with the opportunity to vote and run for office in local elections, promoting their issues within their communities, training, organising and empowering them as civic leaders.
VkV provides youth leadership programs that offer practical skills to equip youth with the knowledge and confidence needed to take on difficult challenges in life. Our vision is that when our programs are fully developed, there will be many hundreds of young people across the country who can confidently address a variety of challenges facing their communities.
These programs will include:
- Promoting gender equality,
- Educating young people about their rights,
- Electing more youth into public office
- Advocating for good governance
